How does Motor Heroes work?

Motor Heroes is the leading European auction platform devoted to interest cars. If you are a car enthusiast, chances are you will fall in love with our vehicles, spacing from vintage cars from the '50s to unique sport cars from the 2020s.

There's quite a long list of things that will make you love Motor Heroes even more, but here's a few:

  • We have personally checked the condition of the cars listed on our website. We want to provide our users with the best buying experience ever, so we check the vehicles we list personally to make sure we highlight their most interesting perks but their defects as well.

  • Very low fees. Sellers list for free, while buyers only pay 5% of their winning bid in fees, with a minimum of €500 and a maximum of €5,000.

  • Listing your car is very easy. Submit a form with some info about your car and if we are interested, we will call you within 48 hours to ask some additional details and plan a photoshoot.

  • Get your cars the attention they need. Our network of influencers and our community can guarantee a high level of visibility to all the cars listed on Motor Heroes.

Buying cars

Once you have found a car you like here on Motor Heroes, all you have to do is bid! First time on our website? No worries, we have summarised the steps below.

1. Register an account or log in

Before you can bid on a live auction on Motor Heroes, you have register an account and confirm your email address or, in case you already have an account, log into it. To sign up, simply click on the Sign up button in the top right corner of the screen, and fill in the form that pops up with a public username, your email and the password you'd like to use.

2. Double check the listing

There's no fine print on Motor Heroes, but we want to make sure you know exactly what you are bidding on. Every listing has plenty of photos, an accurate description written by the Motor Heroes team and a list of questions to the seller from other users like you. If you still can't find the piece of information you are looking for, feel free to send a question yourself and we'll notify the seller immediately.

3. Bid

Once you are done reviewing the auction's content, you can start the bidding process by clicking on the Bid now button and entering how much you want to bid. You can also make your bid an autobid, which automatically raises your bid as other people surpass it, but making sure it stays under the amount you specify in this step.

If this is your first time bidding, you will be asked to add a payment method and a billing address. This is data we require to pre-authorize a payment amounting to the buyer's fee for the bid you are making. Although this amount is pre-authorized and thus blocked on your payment method when your bid is confirmed, it will be returned to you if you are outbid or if your bid is winning when the auction closes, but is still under its reserve price.

4. Win the auction

If the auction you've bid on has a No reserve tag, it means that when the countdown reaches zero and the auction ends, the highest bid will win the auction lot, no matter the amount of the bid. On the other hand, if there's no tag on the auction, the highest bid must be at least equal to the reserve price set by the seller for the auction.

If your bid is lower than the reserve price but close to it, we will make sure to get in touch with both you and the seller to try and find a compromise. If the bid is not close to the reserve price or if the seller does not accept a compromise amount, the auction will be considered to be ended without a winner.

If you do win the auction, we will provide you with the seller's details and viceversa, so that you may contact them to arrange the payment and the transportation of the vehicle you've just won!

Selling cars

Are you an enthusiast or a collector who wants to sell a car? Motor Heroes is the perfect place for you! Listing your vehicle is completely free. If you want to get started, here's how it works!

1. Submit your car

You can submit your car easily and for free by visiting our Sell with Us page. We will ask a few things about the car you are selling and about yourself as a seller. If we are interested in listing your car, we will contact you within 48 hours to ask for a few more details!

2. Prepare the listing

Once your vehicle is accepted, we will start working on producing some content to list it on Motor Heroes.

  • We will organise a viewing of the car, so that we can inspect its conditions and take some photos we'll use for the listing.

  • We will share a first draft of the vehicle's description with you. You will be able to review it and provide feedback, which we will integrate in the final draft.

  • We will discuss the auction's reserve price, if you want to have one. A reserve price will ensure your vehicle won't be sold unless the winning bid at the end of the auction is equal to or greater than the reserve price we have set.

3. Support bidders

Once your auction is live, you will likely receive some questions and comments about your car from other Motor Heroes users. To make your auction even more appealing, you should try to engage with the community as much as possible.

Remember, the more people know about your car, the more likely it is they will bid on it!

4. Auction end

If at the end of your auction there is a winner whose bid is equal to or greater than the reserve price we have set, you will receive their details to contact them and proceed with the sale and transfer of the vehicle.

If, on the other hand, the auction ends without a winner – either due to lack of bidders or due to a highest bid not being above the reserve price, you will be offered the chance to re-list your vehicle at a different reserve price.
