As the very special car it is, the 911 964 is an air-cooled Porsche which brings a sought-after style and a pure, analog driving back to where they belong: behind the wheel, of course! This particular example is finished in Silver paint over black leather, it’s cabrio (which equals to exciting top-down driving experiences and breezy spring commutes!) and it offers a reasonably low mileage, just above 92,000 km!
With the brand new 911 series, renamed “964”, for the first time AWD became part of Porsche’s large-scale production heritage, right after it debuted on the first supercar to ever be born from Porsche’s factories: the 959. Its electronically controlled (and permanent) all-wheel drive works on a 31/69, front/rear setting under normal circumstances, adapting the torque flow when the pedal starts reaching the metal.
Under the bonnet, the same recipe: a 3.6-litre flat-six, but paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed tiptronic automatic transaxle, and matched with a factory installed electrical and remoted rear spoiler, which operates just above 80 km/h.
Despite many similarities in the design, the revolutionary changes the 964 went through meant much better aerodynamics than the previous G model.
The car is finished in Silver and features a speed-activated rear spoiler, integrated fog lights and heated, power-adjustable side mirrors. The soft top is reportedly in good condition and shows no issues while opening or closing. The silver-finished 16” inch Design 90 wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, measuring 25/55ZR15 on the front and 255/50ZR16 on the rear. As braking is granted by four-wheel ventilated discs with ABS, the sound is granted by its original exhaust pipe.
Moving in, the power-adjustable Comfort bucket seats feature a black leather upholstery, matching dash, centre console, door panels and period-correct radio.
As the leather-wrapped, first series steering wheel appears in good shape, so does the VDO instrumentation, which includes a central tachometer with a 6,800 rpm redline, a 300 km/h speedometer, an analog clock, and complementary gauges, all reported to be working perfectly. The six digit mechanical odometer shows 92,743 km.
The aforementioned air-cooled 3.6-litre M64 flat-six was factory rated at 247 hp and 310 Nm of torque. Furthermore, power is sent to all four wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission.
