As one of the most emblematic, long-wheelbase, luxury SUV models, this beautiful 5-door Range Rover Classic bursts British accents from every pore and comes with just the right specifications: Ardennes green Metallic, grey velour interiors, wood trim inserts and recently treated mechanics, which allowed the beautiful 3.9-litre V8’s spirit to keep up with its 274,000 km. Are you ready for your next trip through the London jungle?

Many of you may have wondered: “how old is the first Range Rover? When was the first one built?”. As of the youngest British marques in history, Range Rover was launched in 1970 though the idea for a more luxurious Land Rover Series firstly appeared during the ‘50s.

Exteriors (54).jpg

Prototyped in 1967 and completed in 1969, the Range Rover looked different from its predecessors; it wasn’t only due to the appearance (the front grille and the headlight configuration were completely revolutionised) but to the 26 early samples' registration name, ‘Velar’, used by a Range Rover engineer that came up with such jeopardising designation to ‘cover’ (that’s what ‘velare’ means in italian) the registering pre-production Range Rovers.

This 1992 Range Rover classic features aluminium body panels, finished in Ardennes Green Metallic, with a black side moulding and dark, metallic bumpers. Additional features include a non-installed front brush bar, two Hella fog lights, electrically powered windows and colour-coded 16-inch, three-spoke alloy wheels, which are twinned to four Michelin Latitude Cross Outside, 235/70R16, and are reported to be in pretty good condition.

The seller reported that the rear tailgate and the rear left door’s lower corner show signs of rust, and added that minor scratches can be found right under the tailgate’s hand lever, as shown in the gallery. A full-size spare tyre is located in the cargo area. A single dent can be seen on the external roof above the right rear passenger’s door. Finally, it’s stated that the car received a respray in 2014, after it was purchased by its current owner.

Interiors (4).jpg

The cabin of this Range Rover features seats upholstered in Grey velour, which are in good condition, with some minor marks and discolouration, commensurate with the age of the vehicle. The front passenger’s seat is reportedly showing cloth detachment on the back, as shown in the gallery.

Interiors (11).jpg

The wood trim accents on the door panels appear to be in average condition and the roof cloth was allegedly replaced during previous ownership; the seller reports that the cruise control, the tachometer and the radio don’t work properly, like the gauge indicating the coolant temperature, whose sensor was previously removed. Also, it is stated by the owner that the shift indicators near the lever are detaching from the base and that the front glove compartment’s left lower corner was partially repaired before the current ownership.

Mechanics (2).jpg

Mechanically, the 3.9-liter V8 was factory rated at 180 hp and 314 Nm of torque, matched with a 4-speed automatic transmission, which is reported to be stroppy when moving from 1st to 2nd and when shifting into Reverse. Apart from that, the car starts and runs in a key turn and it will be sold with its entire mechanical documentation and receipts, proving the many refurbishments and overhauls it underwent over time. Also, the underside looks in good shape, as shown in the photo gallery.

Docs (2).jpg

Offered for auction by its Swiss owner, the car will be sold with Swiss ownership documentation, the stock book set and the spare front brush bar, as pictured in the gallery.
