The new spider, which debuted in 1989 with the name Lotus Elan M100 alongside the classic concepts of the house with bodywork in fiberglass and Kevlar, central beam frame in steel, was designed by the English designer Peter Stevens. The engine, a 4-cylinder in line of 1,588 cm³ twin cam 16 valves derived from Isuzu, suitably revised and upgraded by Lotus itself, powered by electronic injection and equipped with an IHI turbocharger with intercooler, was mounted in a transverse front position and was combined with a gearbox 5-speed manual. Thanks to the high power for the time, 167 HP, the new Elan, offered only with the spider bodywork, reached 220 km/h and accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.8 seconds with an effective weight of only 1,020 kg and thanks to the 4-wheel independent suspension with double wishbones and the 4 disc brakes, of which the front ones were ventilated, it was very agile and safe, thus obtaining excellent handling.
The car we are presenting is a 1991 model, it is a Lotus Elan Turbo with external Red coloring and internal Red-Black two-tone colouring, the car has only 80,000km.
